Our Mission
ART WALK FOR KIDS/ADULTS™ developed into an Outreach Program in January, 2000 with the mission of focusing on benefiting special needs, learning disabled, and at-risk youth and adults in their positive environments through a specialized curriculum of art education and vocation education.
Our Philosophy: "Set a Course for Positive Self-Expression and the Doors of Opportunity Will Open!"
At-Risk youth receive academic credit, Carnegie Credit, toward graduation upon completion of the ART WALK curriculum.
Our Goal: To improve and enhance the academic performance of students in core academic subjects through a specialized curriculum of technical art education and vocation education respecting multi-cultural creative diversity. To date, we have given 111 Certificates of Completion = Carnegie Credits, to help our at risk (50 - 85% "learning disabled") kids towards graduation! The program has become successful beyond initial expectations in that in it's purest sense this specialized education program teaches positive self expression.
ART WALK FOR KIDS/ADULTS™ is also a work in progress in that the curriculum enlightens and identifies creative, natural talents in youth, then exposes the youth to vocation education that can set them on a positive path that can lead to career success, as well as give them the self confidence they need to accomplish their personal goals. This unique approach to education through teaching the techniques of the Great Artists is designed to affect self-reinforcing, positive self-expression.
Benefiting: Youth at the Los Prietos Boys Camp, Tri-Counties Boot Camp, Hillside House, Santa Barbara Juvenile Hall, El Puente Court School, Villa Esperanza, Devereux-California, the United Way's "Fun in the Sun" Program for underprivileged youth, the Cancer Hope Foundation's "Camp Keepsake" and the American Cancer Society's "Camp Reach for the Stars" for youth and adults living with cancer, and the Bryant Youth and Family Mentorship Program.
